Introduction to self-defence
The Firhill Complex, Hopehill Road, Glasgow, G20 7HH
Introduction to self-defence.
The event will be held over 3 Mondays and will take people through basics of self-defence, giving them confidence, exercise and transferable skills. It will be done in a fun, friendly way within a specific LGBTQ+ and allies class. Participants will have opportunity to learn from others within the community and classes will comprise pad work, drills, light contact and so much more. Opportunities to continue training past the 3 week introductory block will be offered.
Sekumai Shoto Budo is an LGBTQ+ martial arts club which works off the key principle of self defence. Our origins are karate base but we incorporate lots of different skills, such as mat work, safe falling, parrying, takedowns, use of focus pads, locks, weapons and application of kata. We use a modelled approach to learning and use principles of developmental behavioural modelling to assist students to learn in a recursive way.
