Queer and Migrant Voices in Wellbeing and Movement: Film Screening & Panel Discussion (Online)
Online on Zoom
Queer and Migrant Voices in Wellbeing and Movement: Film Screening & Panel Discussion (Online) is part of Festival Fortnight 2026, organised and delivered by U Belong Glasgow.
The event will feature an online screening of Feminist Economic Football, a short film exploring the intersections of football, gender, labour, and social justice, followed by a live panel discussion centring queer and migrant perspectives in sport, wellbeing, and community organising.
The panel brings together Melika Balali (Olympian judo player and founder of Freedom Wrestling Club supporting refugees and asylum seekers), Thierry Fotso (footballer with Yaas Queens Park Football Club and wellbeing officer at LGBT Health and Wellbeing), Peilin Shi (artist and storyteller), and Tony Basra (LGBTIQ+ personal trainer and coach).
The discussion will explore how sport and movement can be made more inclusive, and how lived experiences of migration, queerness, and marginalisation shape access to wellbeing and physical activity spaces.
This online event creates an accessible platform for learning and dialogue around equality and human rights in sport. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with practitioners and artists working at the intersection of sport, wellbeing, and social justice, and to explore how grassroots initiatives can help build more inclusive and supportive communities.
