Carnival Glasgow: Rhythms of Celebration/ Capoeira Glasgow: An LGBTIQ+ Taster Workshop
Stereo, 22 Renfield Lane, Glasgow, G2 5AR
Carnival Glasgow: “Rhythms of Celebration” brings the vibrant spirit of Brazilian Carnival to Glasgow!
Guests are encouraged to arrive in carnival costumes and dance to samba, axé, funk carioca, and classic carnival hits, all mixed by the hottest Brazilian DJ, Indigo. There will also be a capoeira taster session with Capoeira 4 Scotland and more tbc!
This free, 18+ event welcomes LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, Global Majority queer and trans people and allies, for everyone in our community to join the celebration, feel the rhythm, and enjoy the joy of celebrating life.
It will include a warm-up, an introduction to basic movements, the roda (the circle where capoeira is played), and a cool-down.
No experience is needed, just bring your energy, your best costume, and your love for music and movement. “Carnival Glasgow” promises a lively, inclusive night of dance, colour, and community you won’t want to miss!
The workshop is part of Carnaval Glasgow: Rhythms of Joy, an LGBTIQ+ celebration for migrants, and is hosted in partnership with Refugee Festival Scotland.
The workshop is free for LGBTIQ+ asylum-seekers and refugees. Sliding scale tickets are available for the general LGBTIQ+ public.
It is for people aged 18 or older. Travel costs can be reimbursed for low-income or no-income participants, but this offer is limited to a certain number of people.
