The Big Gaylidh

“As part of Festival Fortnight, this event aims to bring together LEAP’s project participants and our LGBTIQ+ sports clubs to join us once again for this fun-filled musical evening! There will be a live ceilidh band and it will be a great chance to dance and socialise in a sober queer-friendly environment!

This event is part of LEAP Sports’ Festival Fortnight which runs from the 13th to 28th June. Festival Fortnight takes place annually, and aims to increase the visibility and participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people in Scottish sport, and provides opportunities to raise awareness of LGBTIQ+ and wider equality, inclusion, and human rights issues within the world of sport and physical activity. The festival provides something for everyone, featuring a combination of sporting, cultural, academic, social, and recreational events.

Due to reduced funding this year we are using a sliding scale ticket system. If you need a fully subsidised ticket please contact robin@leapsports.org

You don’t have to have any experience of ceilidh dancing as the band will explain every dance as they go along. If you’re not keen on dancing, but would still like to come along with your friends, that’s absolutely fine too. There will be some tables for people to sit at.

The event is a sober space, your are welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic drinks. We will also have some light vegetarian and vegan snacks available. Open to all LGBTIQ+ people and allies aged 18+.

There is no dress code, so feel free to wear whatever you please and feel comfortable in! Share this event with all your loved ones :)

Directions:
The Pyramid Centre is a six minute walk from Anderston subway station, or a 15 minute walk or bus ride on the 1A, 1C, 1D, 1E or 2 from the city centre.

Facilities:
Gendered and gender neutral toilets are available at the venue. Trans people are welcome to use the toilet facilities that align with their gender. If anyone feels unsafe or uncomfortable, please let a member of LEAP or Pyramid staff know straight away – the Pyramid has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and discrimination.
