Ready to try something new, meet great people, and have a laugh along the way?

Join The Caledonian Thebans RFC for a fun, inclusive “Come and Try Rugby” session as part of Festival Fortnight.

Whether you’ve never touched a rugby ball, missed our free Bootcamp, or you’re an experienced player looking for a welcoming new team, this session is open to all LGBTQ+ people and allies. All genders are welcome, and no experience is needed, just come as you are. Changing rooms open at 6pm, session starts at 6.30pm.

Expect a relaxed, high-energy session filled with fun, non-contact rugby games, simple skills, and plenty of support from our coaches and players. We focus on creating a positive, non-judgemental space where you can build confidence, try something new, and enjoy being active without pressure.

And it doesn’t stop when the session ends. Afterwards, we’ll head into the clubhouse for food, drinks, and a proper social. It’s your chance to chat, meet the team, and get a real feel for what Thebans is all about, on and off the pitch.

Come solo or bring a friend, everyone is welcome. Give rugby a go and be part of an inclusive community that’s all about sport, connection, and having a good time.

Kit Required

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable sportswear suitable for light physical activity, such as a t-shirt, shorts or athletic leggings, and trainers suitable for grass. No prior rugby kit or equipment is required, however if you do have rugby or football boots, you are more than welcome to wear these. We recommend bringing a water bottle and, depending on the weather, a light waterproof or extra layer. As this is Scotland, the weather can be unpredictable even in summer, so we advise bringing an extra layer such as a jumper or hoodie to keep warm during warm-ups and between activities. All sessions are designed to be non-contact and beginner-friendly, so no specialist protective equipment is needed.
