Come and Try Roller Derby with the Auld Reekie Roller Girls!

We’re excited to announce a taster day as part of the LEAP sports Festival Fortnight!

Roller Derby has been one of the fastest growing sports around the world in recent years; Auld Reekie is the largest and highest ranked club in Scotland, with years of experience in teaching people how to skate and play an exciting contact sport on roller skates. Come and spend some time learning about our sport – watch some footage, hear some first hand stories from our skaters and give it a go yourself! We’ll supply skates and full protective equipment (bar mouth-guard).

12:30 – 12:45 – Arrive, sign in, welcome!
12:45 -13:30 – A chance to talk, ask questions, explore the sport of Roller Derby, watch some skating and hear from some of our skaters about their experiences
13:30 – 14:00 – If you’re putting on skates this is your time to get kitted up! Those not skating can go watch some advanced skaters train
14:00 – 15:00 – Have a go on skates! Our experienced coaches will guide and support you on safe skating techniques, our experienced skaters will be on hand to help keep you upright and introduce you to you the best fun ever!

As a sport we are members of the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association, and we welcome skaters who identify as women, including transwomen; we’re committed to inclusive and anti-discrimination practices in relation to all transgender women, intersex women, and gender expansive participants. Male-identifying people can take on roles as referees and non-skating officials. At ARRG, we constantly strive for inclusivity. People of all gender identities are welcome at this event.

This event is open to over 18’s only
